When decorating your kids room curtain rods can easily add a lot of style and color. Whether you have one window or several it is very easy to add curtain rods. First you need to decide what style of curtain rod you want. What kind of curtains are you going to use? If you want to go with a tabbed curtain or are going to use rings round curtain rods are best so the curtains slide easily. If the curtains are going to be stationary you might want to use a more decorative rod such as a twisted rod or rope style rod. If the rod is not going to show keep it simple with a round rod. What finials should you use? Finials are the decorative pieces that go on the end of the curtain rod. They vary from very simple to very decorative. Simple finials could be balls.
Finials can be made of almost any material including wood glass steel aluminum etc. Finials are often changed to give the window dressing a slightly difference appearance. The brackets are usually hidden by the whole window dressing so they dont have to be decorative unless they stick out from the wall. This design creates a layered look and the brackets do play a role in the appearance. Rods should be hung according to the length of the window. If your window is small and you would like to create a taller image - hang your curtain rods closer to the ceiling. For a three dimensional effect use double and triple rods for layering that will give a rich look and work as insulation as well.
Make sure the mounting brackets for the rod will fit on your door. A popular curtain for patio doors is sheers. They let the light in but still give you some privacy. If you need light blocking or want something more decorative there are many styles of curtains sold for standard patio door sizes. Some cafe curtain rods even allow for rings to go on them so you have more choices for curtains. The last step is to slide the curtains on and install the rod. If you are unsure of how to install the rods ask your home improvement store about your type of door and what type of screws or fasteners you should use. Once installed you will have an attractive window covering and curtain rods for your patio doors.
Brackets will be necessary to hang your drapery rods. Depending on how long your sections of rods are dictates how many brackets you will need. You usually will need at least one bracket per corner in addition to one bracket on each end of the rod. Along with finials rings are also available if your curtains require them for hanging. Other accessories to use with your corner rods are holdbacks to drape your curtains back and wands to help move the curtains along the curtain rod. Corner rods can be manufactured a few different ways. One of the most popular ways is to have a rod for each section and connect them using connectors welded at the correct angle. Corner rods can also be welded or attached together at the correct angle in one piece. This is only feasible for shorter rods since it is in one piece.
