Chin Yuen has lived in six countries and travels extensively. She credits her exposure to various cultures and experiences for the rich dynamism inherent in her artworks. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts (with honors) from the prestigious Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design (Vancouver, Canada) and a Master of Arts from the University of Victoria, Canada. Her award winning paintings are exhibited and collected internationally in private and corporate collections.
“I love being surrounded by beautiful objects: they bring me joy and a sense of wellbeing. I want my paintings to be the offerings of such positive qualities in different environments. The language I use is abstract, focusing on moods, colours, dynamic compositions, and textures. The process is intuitive and sensual, yet, at the same time, highly analytical. Each painting provides an equal amount of play and puzzle solving that requires a synthesis of different experiences and techniques to achieve resolution. I hope that my paintings will engage and sustain viewers’ imagination, giving them an inspiring and luxurious experience that mirrors my creative process.”
