I record my observations in a sketchbook and with a camera. Structures, arches, angles, color and texture become points of interests. Sketches are transferred onto the painting surface using loose line drawings. Next, I apply layers of color, value, and line variation to create color depth harmony. Throughout the process I explore the balance of adding and subtracting brushstrokes, lyrical line marks, drips and color. After the surface accumulates into a chaotic state I begin to eliminate lines and areas to establish harmony with simplicity.  

I received my B.A in Art Studio at California State University Chico. I completed my Masters in Fine Art at the Academy of Art in San Francisco, California.
