Sally Shisler is a devoted Central Florida palette knife painter who explores & enriches her talents amongst our great outdoors. Born in 1966 as a 'later in life' third child, Sally was blessed with the privilege to share great amounts of time on outdoor adventures with her father. She was allowed the freedom to indulge in long, quiet journeys through the wilderness of New York's Adirondack mountain regions. With a growing love of nature, Sally has spent a lifetime enamored by the beauty of our world, and finds this inspiration the source of her passion to paint. Her development as a painter began from this early stage and in 1991 found her professionally equipped with a master's degree in biomedical visualization from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has since been supported by a career in medical illustration where she's able to combine a sharp right brain with an equally sharp left to beautifully clarify the workings of the human body. This unique ability spans from the magazine covers of nearly 100 medical & dental trade journals to the courts of our country's highest proflie medical malpractice litigation proceedings. As an illustrator, she came amply equipped in 2006 to begin a new focus on painting from life. The timing was impeccable, and she became one of the original artists participating in an online movement of daily painting. This daily discipline helped pave a way toward greater insight into life as a full time painter. Throwing caution to the wind, she has embraced a remarkable transition from realism to impressionism. And, as of late, touches of abstract expressionism have also emerged. Her unique palette knife painting style is becoming recognized by many well known artists working today in her genre of choice. Her instruction is sought by numerous painting students in search of freedom from their limiting brush painting approaches. She explains the basis of her artistic journey by saying, "Painting open air with palette knives holds the promise of lively and fresh work. I feel it's my best opportunity to share the fruits of spiritual growth that have become central to a fulfilling life. Destinations are unknown, so grace and fulfillment always lie within the moment."
