Suzanne Pratt’s work strives for a heavy aesthetic, with an emphasis on color and transparency.  She pulls from the sublime qualities of nature – bringing an elemental and ethereal but playful energy to her work.  She is interested in eschewing the traditional nature of painting by pushing it beyond the substrates of canvas and panel and onto unusual surfaces.  Utilizing unconventional painting methods and techniques, she achieves her objective by pouring the paint directly onto the surface instead of using a brush or a palette knife.  She states “I like the idea of a pliable definition of painting”.

Although she considers herself to be an autodidactic artist, she has taken courses in color theory and design at the Chouinard School of Art.

She has exhibited her work nationally, had her paintings featured in an AFI produced film, and has received praise for her work from a number of prominent Los Angeles artists and collectors.  Her collectors list includes fellow artists as well as film and music industry executives and professionals.  In 2006 she was accepted into the TarFest Art juried show in 2006 in which the participants of that show were described as some of “LA’s brightest emerging artists”
