Charles Keith , native to central Florida, has been drawing since the age of eight. Later in high school, he began experimenting with photography and pottery. His passion for the arts enabled him to remain focused on everyday elements of design and made his desire to create grow stronger. Attending a local college and focusing on art, Keith grew closer to color and the idea of painting was inevitable. He moved to Savannah in 1998 to attend Savannah College of Art and Design where he nurtured his attention to detail and texture through Historic Preservation. After leaving Savannah, he moved to Brasil to experience another culture very dear to him. Returning to the states, Keith settled down in his native surroundings to continue his raw interpretation of earthy expressions with paint.
Traveling in and around Brasil, throughout the US and some of Canada, and having lived in multiple cities in the southeast region of the US, Keith has gained the diversity to add depth to his perception of the organic side of expressionism.
“Mood is everything, to have it is good, to play with it can be sometimes challenging, but to capture it, to me it's like trying to catch a butterfly with a poem and a bottle of whiskey.”
“I have a ridiculous appreciation for the mundane…it's a great learning tool for anyone.” Charles Keith now resides and paints in his home studio in south Orlando.
