In addition to a full-time practice as a public artist of large-scale, site-specific commissions, Lynn Basa is the author of the first professional guide for public artists, The Artist's Guide to Public Art: How to Find and Win Commissions. Before moving to Chicago in 2002, Basa had been appointed by the mayor of Seattle for two terms as the chair of the public art committee of the Seattle Arts Commission. She has a Masters in Public Administration in public art policy and management from the University of Washington and an undergraduate degree in studio art and art history from Indiana University. Additionally, she is an active member of the Public Art Network of the Americans for the Arts and is a co-founder of the Public Artist Forum listserv. |
